Rooftop Illusions. Eyes glued to the sky, the dark clouds formed. Omanga sketched the subject. Footsteps approached. Apesi’s figure approached.

Omanga: Do you like storms?

Apesi: I like drizzles. I like it cold.

Omanga: I think you are the kind of girl who will.... ruin my peace in a good way.

Apesi: You always come here whenever it rains, why?

Omanga: (with a faint smile) the clouds reflect who I am; weighty, undecided and

full of charge. That never shows? (eyebrow raised)

Apesi: That's pretty. But annoying.

Omanga: Aren't most things beautiful?

Apesi: (with a low tone) not really, some are.... like you. (she stammered)

I brought you coffee. Hot like me, but you can’t handle…

Omanga: (smiling he grabs it) That’s too much….

Apesi: Too much to handle?…eyebrow raised…what do you mean?

Omanga: (sipping coffee) You’re too pretty to go unnoticed. Competition too stiff.

Apesi: You are fond of saying that. Which competition?...But you promised.

Omanga: (whispering) Promises aren't my thing. They are illusive. But maybe I did.

Apesi: What! You playing games right?

Omanga: Am I?

Apesi: What’s your type? An ass that’s fatter? A waist that’s slimmer? Or a chick that…

Omanga: You speak in caps lock. Loud and honest. And... I’m just a chill guy.

Apesi: Why are you keeping me on wait then?

Omanga: I like your laughter. I like the way you call me.

Apesi: That’s just it! I need clarity!

Omanga: I feel you. And I apologise for keeping you on the wait.

Apesi: I need no apology. I need clarity!

Omanga: (eyes blinking) Apesi, I never meant to betray your feelings. I’m just protecting myself. I want you but I can’t just have you.

Apesi: (tears pooled) Is that it! You mean that’s just it! You mean we throw it all away?

Omanga: Yes.

Apesi: I feel so stupid right now. (tears rolled)

Omanga: Don’t say that…(he stepped forward to hug her)

Apesi: (she drifted) You know what…I was head over heels for you..(wiping off tears)

Omanga: Are you saying goodbye?

Apesi: Not really...I’m just choosing me!(another tear rolled as her Footsteps faded)

Omanga: Sh*t! (hurls the coffee cup to the ground) You are the only girl I ever loved… sinking in a mourning position.
